My Role
Product Designer
Background
Initially, within the Starbucks application, users could only spend or reload their Starbucks cards using a single method: credit and debit cards. This limited the convenience and flexibility for users. To enhance the user experience and contribute to increasing Starbucks sales, we introduced additional top-up methods.
Objective
To add a new method for reloading Starbucks cards and improve the spending experience.
Design Process
We started by discussing various requirements to understand the goals, objectives, and limitations of the project.
I researched the top-up flow from various sources, primarily focusing on True Money Wallet since it uses the same service provider as our backend.
UI
Once I had a solid version, I developed the UI using Starbucks' design guidelines or brand guidelines. The final design was then submitted to Starbucks Asia Pacific for review to ensure it adhered to the brand guidelines.
Challenge
The main challenge of this project was dealing with tech limitations. We had to use UX design to improve the user experience. For example, understanding and managing potential user scenarios during a pending transaction was crucial. Identifying and addressing these gaps was particularly challenging.
